Every day, every sign
See how Materai turns daily check-ins into clinical signals before your next appointment.
From check-in to clarity in 3 steps
A daily routine taking two minutes builds a longer-term record that monthly appointments alone cannot provide for you or your midwife.
Log your daily check-in
Each morning, a guided two-minute check-in covers movement, symptoms, mood, and sleep. No medical knowledge is needed. Questions adjust to your pregnancy stage.
- Foetal movement total
- Blood pressure, if using a home cuff
- Symptoms: headaches, swelling, vision
- Mood and energy rating
- Sleep quality
Materai finds patterns in your entries
Over time, your entries establish a personal baseline. If a measure moves away from your own pattern rather than a population average, Materai marks it for review.
- A personal baseline for every measure
- Drift detection across 3, 7, and 14-day windows
- Links between co-occurring symptoms
- Week-specific thresholds
Signals become a summary for your midwife
Two days before each appointment, Materai creates a structured summary your midwife can read in under two minutes. If a pattern needs attention before your next visit, you are prompted to contact your care team.
- Pre-appointment PDF to print or share
- Trend charts for each measure
- Flag log with dates and context
- Questions to consider for your appointment
Materai does not diagnose conditions or replace clinical care. Follow your midwife's or GP's guidance. If a symptom concerns you, contact your care team directly without waiting for a flag.
Materai monitors
Six data categories, each interpreted in the context of your pregnancy stage.
Blood pressure
Log home cuff readings. Materai tracks third-trimester risk trends without treating individual readings as diagnostic.
Foetal movement
Record each day's movement sessions. Materai develops your personal baseline over time, which is more useful than population averages.
Symptoms diary
Record headaches, swelling, visual changes, and other symptoms each day. Patterns among symptoms that occur together are marked for review.
Mood and energy
A short daily rating records emotional wellbeing. Ongoing low mood patterns prompt a gentle suggestion to speak with your care team.
Sleep quality
Sleep problems can indicate changes in pregnancy but often go unreported. Materai records your stated quality and marks major, lasting changes.
Appointment calendar
Add your planned appointments. Two days before each visit, Materai creates a pre-appointment summary of flagged patterns since your previous check-in.
When Materai flags one
Flags show patterns, not diagnoses. Here is what each type means.
Review advised
A measure has moved away from your personal baseline in a way worth discussing at your next appointment. Your pre-appointment summary will show it. No immediate action is needed unless your symptoms concern you.
Contact your care team
A pattern has reached a threshold for prompt clinical attention. Materai will advise contacting your midwife or GP. This is not an emergency alarm, but a prompt to get in touch sooner.
In range
Every tracked measure remains within your personal baseline for this stage of pregnancy. Your daily summary confirms this, helping you understand your position before the next visit.
For persistent or severe symptoms including reduced foetal movement, severe headache, or visual disturbances, call your midwife, maternity triage, or 999. Do not wait for an app to flag a concern.
Common questions
Practical guidance on fitting Materai into your current care.
Once familiar with the process, most check-ins take under two minutes. The first few may take slightly longer while you learn the questions. Entering blood pressure takes about 30 seconds if you use a home cuff.
No. Your phone is enough for the core check-in. A home blood pressure monitor can be used for readings, but is optional. Materai still works as a symptom and movement diary without BP data.
Yes. Any midwife can read the pre-appointment PDF summary without a Materai account. Download or print it before your visit. Clinics using the Practice plan receive a connected dashboard, while the parent-side tool works independently.
Your health data is stored securely and never sold to third parties. You keep full ownership. Our Privacy Policy explains storage, processing, and deletion on request. Materai is registered with the ICO and complies with UK GDPR.
No. Materai is a personal health logging and pattern-awareness tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose conditions, make clinical decisions, or replace professional care. Flags are informational prompts to discuss with your midwife, not clinical alerts.
You can start at any point, though starting earlier gives your personal baseline more time to develop. Many users begin in the second trimester when movement starts to be felt. The weekly pregnancy guides in the Track plan are available from week 1 onwards.
